The Ready To Learn initiative offers families free, high-quality educational resources they can use to support their children's learning and development in ways that work best for them. By providing this kind of accessible content, Ready To Learn empowers parents and caregivers, especially those in under-resourced communities, to help their children build strong school readiness skills. These early learning experiences are especially impactful for children with the greatest needs, who often experience the most significant growth when given the right support.
For over 30 years, the Ready To Learn grant—funded by the U.S. Department of Education—has supported the creation of educational television and digital media for young children and their families, with a focus on those from low-income communities. Local PBS stations work with diverse community partners as part of a network of Learning Neighborhoods devoted to supporting the early learning needs of children in underserved communities. Additionally, state-level partnerships extend the reach of Ready To Learn resources across Tennessee.
